Learn a select series of APPI modified Pilates movements incorporating the Arc Barrel. The Arc barrel is a highly versatile, space saving and cost effective piece of small Pilates equipment which compliments any matwork programme. These light weight and easily portable barrels can be used to increase or decrease the challenge to the body and are ideally used for rehab to assist matwork exercises. Learn how to use these gently curved arches in a variety of ways including how to help support the back, shoulders and neck, to elongate the spine and therefore prevent lumbar hyper extension in prone exercises, to open up the upper quadrant as well how to increase the range of movement of selective exercises. Discover how the arc barrel is a great rehabilitative tool for those recovering from stress, tension or injury and how they make a safe, supportive surface for deep muscle stretching the joint mobilising.

Session Descriptions:
Mr Lester Wilson- Minimal Access Lumbar Spine Stabilisation – the advantages for patient rehabilitation
This lecture will look into the advantages of patient rehabilitation and demonstrate this in clinical practice, evaluate the evidence for improved outcomes, and present the challenge of integrated rehabilitation strategies to the physiotherapy community.
Mr Ian McDermott- Anterior Knee Pain .... it's not a diagnosis!"
This lecture will explore several of the main causes of anterior knee pain symptoms. It will focus on the anatomy and potential pathologies of the front of the knee, in particular highlighting the limitations of clinical examination and some of the benefits of detailed radiological imaging. It will demonstrate how large an array there is of different pathologies, emphasizing just how non-specific the term 'anterior knee pain' truly is.
Alan Herdman- Osteoporosis and Pilates
Clients suffering from osteoporosis can take great benefit from correctly and carefully taught Pilates in strengthening and injury prevention. In this workshop participants will: • Learn how the eight Pilates principles must be an essential part of the Pilates programme • Explore contra-indicated exercises and whether to reject them or adjust them to suit the client • Learn how to build strength and muscle balance for the client with osteoporosis • Understand how to assist the client in avoiding falls (the most common cause of bone breakage), and if they fall, how to reduce the chance of breaking a bone
•Learn how to build an exercise programme to help osteoporotic clients flex safely
Emma Bellew- Pilates for Skiers
This workshop will provide you with a functional problem solving approach and ski specific Pilates exercises to address your clients needs.
Content: Review classic Skiing Posture, Consider skiing demands, Identify common postural & movement imbalances that may contribute to poor ski technique & risk of injury, Learn a series of Ski Specific Pilates exercises, Practical use of exercises using a problem solving approach to address common skiing problems & injuries
Michael King-Reformer Choreography
Michael takes you on a tour of movement using traditional repertoire on the reformer. He will show you how to build and develop sequences over time and adapt it for special needs. This will take your students either in a one to one environment or small group to a new level of challenge
Gordon Thomson- Wobble Board Workout
This is one of the most important pieces of small equipment in any Pilates or exercise studio. Rebalancing and realigning a client for postural weaknesses throughout the body. A set of general and challenging exercises for everybody, with a fun time section at the end. Fully Booked
Rachele Quested- Pilates for Dance Rehab
This workshop will be based on the typical injuries seen in dance, as highlighted by an injury surveillance study conducted at the three major elite preprofessional dance schools in London. Typical injuries will be explained, along with pertinent anatomy, and examples of progressive exercise programs presented.
Liz Bussey-Moving into Integration with Polestar Pilates
Using the Polestar Pilates repertoire on the reformer, you will learn how to experience the true meaning of bodymind integration. This workshop will allow you to recognise the power of your intention and how to cue your body back into its congruent container of continuous connections and dimensions. You will learn the importance of body set up, movement initiation and your relationship with the environment of the reformer. A session experience which can be immediately integrated into everyday life.
